IR Obstacle Avoidance Sensor Module (IR Sensor Module)

The IR Obstacle Avoidance Sensor Module (IR Sensor Module) is an infrared proximity sensor designed for non-contact obstacle detection in robotics, automation, and embedded electronic applications. The module integrates an infrared emitting LED, an infrared photodiode receiver, and an LM393 dual voltage comparator to detect reflected infrared light from nearby objects and generate a digital output signal. The module features two onboard precision potentiometers that allow independent adjustment of the detection distance and receiver sensitivity, enabling reliable operation under different environmental conditions. An onboard status LED provides visual indication whenever an object is detected. The sensor is capable of detecting most opaque objects regardless of color, although detection distance may vary depending on the object's surface reflectivity. The module provides a 4-pin interface consisting of VCC, GND, OUT, and EN (Enable). VCC supplies the operating voltage (typically 3.3V–5V DC), GND is the common ground, OUT provides the TTL-compatible digital detection signal, and EN enables or disables the infrared transmitter, allowing software-controlled operation.
