KY-005 Infrared (IR) Transmitter Module

The KY-005 Infrared (IR) Transmitter Module is a compact infrared emitting module designed for transmitting 940nm infrared light. It uses a high-power 5mm IR LED capable of generating modulated infrared signals, making it suitable for remote control transmitters, wireless IR communication, object detection systems, and DIY electronics projects. The module features a simple 3-pin interface consisting of Signal (S), VCC (+), and GND (-). The signal pin can be connected directly to a microcontroller's digital or PWM output to generate 38kHz modulated IR signals, which are compatible with common IR receiver modules such as the VS1838B (KY-022). The onboard current-limiting resistor protects the IR LED, enabling reliable operation from 3.3V or 5V logic systems. The module is widely used with Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, STM32, Raspberry Pi, AVR, PIC, and other embedded development platforms.
